1. Mount Fansipan's summit
In approximately 15 minutes, a 6 kilometer cable car ride will carry you 3,143m to Mount Fansipan's summit. Prior to completing the final few stairs to the summit, explore the pagoda complex. The 'Roof of Indochina' offers unparalleled vistas.
2. Visit Love-market, an ethnic minority market, during the weekend.
Every Sunday, the Bac Ha market comes alive as hundreds of vendors dressed in traditional attire from the Dzao, Han, Xa Fang, Tay, and Thai tribes arrive. Be prepared for a color explosion and animated bartering.
3. Trek through the hills.
Some of the best trekking in Vietnam can be found in Sapa, and some communities, such Cat Cat and Ta Phin, can be visited without a guide. To see rice terraces, have a waterfall bath, and get a close-up look at ethnic customs, plan an overnight hike.
4. Take a mountain lodge or homestay stay.
At a highland lodge, you may stay in basic comfort while avoiding Sapa's tourist area. Outstanding hotels and homestays may be found in Sapa. You'll bump into farmers going about their everyday business while you're set among the rice terraces.
5. Get moving
A terrific way to get outside and discover Sapa's less-traveled areas is by mountain riding. Each year, the Vietnam Mountain Marathon draws about 4000 participants who run buffalo-worn paths covering distances between 10 and 100 kilometers.
6. Sapa Climate
When the rice terraces are at their most beautiful in September and October, or in April and May when the weather is perfect and the skies are clear, Sapa is at its best. June to August is a great time to travel if you don't mind the heat. The months of November through March will be cold.
7. Transport Sapa
The most popular method of transportation from Lao Cai, the capital of the neighboring province, to Sapa is by overnight trains. Transfer vans complete the ascent of the slopes once they arrive. Alternatively, there are frequent buses and shuttle vans that depart from Hanoi and travel for five to six hours, stopping in the middle of the city. Sapa features a lot of steep roads and trails because it was once a highland station. Many guests use taxis or their feet to get about. Mountain bikes can be rented by adventurers to explore the valley's paths.
