안졸로 톰마시(Angiolo Tommasi), 이탈리아, 화가, 1858-1923
이탈리아의 토스카나가 고향인 '안졸로 토마시'는 열심히 일하는 여성들을 많이 그린 화가입니다.
특히 '토레 델 라고 Torre del Lago' 마을의 "마사추콜리 Massaciuccoli 호수"의 아름다운 풍경과 호숫가에서 빨래하는 여성들을 많이 그렸답니다.
논에서 모내기를 마치고 돌아오는 여성들을 그린 작품 "Return of the Rice Field"를 보면, 100여 년 전 이탈리아 여성 농부들의 패션 감각도 남달랐다는게 느껴지네요. 새참 바구니에는 와인도 한 병!
그의 또 다른 대표작 "이민자들"은, 19세기말 농촌 경제 불균형으로 매년 수십만 명이 고향 이탈리아를 떠나는 모습을 담았습니다.
토스카나의 Livorno 항구 멀리에는 범선과 증기선이 가득 정박해 있고, 부둣가에는 기다리다 지쳐 졸고 있는 사람들, 임신부, 젖먹이는 여인 등등이 여행가방을 싸들고 모여 있습니다.
About Him
Angiolo Tommasi (Livorno, 1858 - Torre del Lago Puccini, Lucca, 1923) was an Italian painter, active in the Macchiaioli movement. He was the brother of the painter Ludovico and cousin of the painter Adolfo Tommasi; all three were influential for the arts in their native Tuscany in the late 19th and early 20th-centuries. Angiolo painted both genre and landscape themes.
Angiolo first studied at the Scuola Comunale di Disegno in his native city under professor Natale Betti]] and Angiolo Lemmi, and then moved to Florence, where he enrolled for 2 years in the Academy of Fine Arts under Giuseppe Ciaranfi. Afterwards he was mentored, like his other family members in painting landscapes by Silvestro Lega.
