영국에 앤서니 브라운이 있다면, 프랑스엔 에르베 튈레가 있다 평가받기도 하는 그는 일러스트레이터이자 창의예술가다. 조형미술과 장식미술을 공부하고 1981년부터 10년간 광고회사 아트디렉터로 활동했다.

 

그는 어떤 고정된 방식으로 그리는 그림, 예쁘게 그리기, 잘 그리는 그림을 요구하지 않는다. 원래 우리 내면에 이미 존재하는 예술감성을 스스로 발현해 낼 수 있도록 돕는다. 평소에 자신이 보는 아름다운 것들을 자유롭게 표현하면 된다는 것이다.

 

이것이 그가 작품을 통해 전하고자 하는 가장 순수하고도 진실된 한 가지 뜻이다. 영국 런던 TATE 모던, 미국 뉴욕 MoMA, 구겐하임 미술관에서 아트 워크숍을 개최한 그의 신개념 예술 세계를 조명한 전시 - <에르베 튈레展, 색색깔깔 뮤지엄>이 서울 예술의전당 한가람미술관에서 진행중이다.

 

그림책과 현대미술이 함께하는 그의 전시에선 튈레만의 독창적인 작화가 가득 담긴 원화, 오브제, 미디어 아트 등 300점의 작품을 만나볼 수 있다.

Hervé Tullet is an artist, performer and author of children's books born in Avranches in 1958. After studying illustration and visual communication, he worked for around ten years in advertising. In 1990, he created his first illustrations for the press. In 1994, his first children's book was published at Seuil jeunesse: How Dad Met Mom. Recognition was not long in coming: he received the Non-Fiction Prize at the Bologna International Fair in 1998 for Don't be confused and his books which prefer the journey to the narration quickly become talked about.

 

With his books, Hervé Tullet s is aimed at everyone from early childhood because his works are as touching as they are read. Very often, his books go beyond the sole framework of their pages, inviting readers to interact with each other, or even to enrich the book with their own experiences. Over the years, the reader and the public at large have become an integral part of Hervé Tullet's work through residencies and workshops.

 

Un Livre, published in 2010, synthesizes the work of Hervé Tullet down to its purest form: just three points, one yellow, one blue, one red, and the magic happens. A true critical and public success, A book will be translated into more than thirty languages. What follows will be Couleurs (Literary prizes for children and parents of Gennevilliers for the book, 2016), We play a>.Points Points and Since 1994, Hervé Tullet has written more than 80 books.

 

Hervé Tullet's numerous workshops which combine performances, drawing, public art and music have taken Hervé to Korea, Turkey, the Tate in London and elsewhere and which nourish his creativity and his desire to share his art with children, parents or teachers.

 

Based in the United States from 2015 to 2020, Hervé Tullet has carried out numerous workshops in prestigious places such as the Library of Congress (Washington), the MoMA or the Guggenheim Museum, and has designed exhibitions around his work (Invisible Dog Art Center, Children's Museum of Pittsburgh). For the first time, a retrospective was devoted to his work in Seoul in 2018. Since then, he has had numerous major exhibitions in museums (Shapes & Colors , Albright Knox Museum, Buffalo, 2021), ephemeral installations (Mantova, 2021) and participatory artistic residencies (Terre d’Incanto, Lauco, Friuli, 2021).
