Ryan Resatka here. I take pictures when traveling on adventures. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, but now I reside in Southern California. I adore Southern California simply because it is so close to Yosemite, Big Sur, and Zion National Parks, which were the original sources of my inspiration. Adventure travel photography involves taking pictures while you're moving around. You still have to figure out how to accomplish things in terms of photography, but you don't want to be restricted by a ton of equipment, and you want to have as much creative freedom as you can.
In this particular photography niche, "I shoot a variety of different photography genres, including lifestyle, nature, and landscape, and find a way to bring it all together in a coherent way. I had really never been to too many locations in the outdoors in general when I traveled from Boston, Massachusetts to Southern California. So when I first visited national parks like Arches, Zion, or Yosemite, they really took my breath away and inspired me to explore more of what they had to offer. As a result of my increased travel and exposure to these stunning locations, I began to worry that they weren't receiving the high-quality images they deserved.
"I started out with a cell phone, but as time went on, I worked my way up to buying a DSLR and developed a much greater interest for it. Since then, it has pushed me to the limit of my ability to travel the globe in search of truly beautiful destinations and remote areas to capture those breathtaking photographs that motivate you to follow suit and want to see there, too. And for me, that is the very essence of travel adventure photography.
