Steve Henderson is a Washington-based artist who specializes in landscapes, seascapes, and figure work in a realistic impressionist manner. Regarding his work, Steve states: "I seek out beauty and paint it as a reaction to our media-saturated fixation with ugly. The world is harsh, yet it is also where we live. In this house of ours, there is tranquility, quietness, thoughtfulness, majesty, grace, joy, and hope, and it is what I paint.

I focus on the innocent yet sophisticated woman of the twenty-first century. It's a common misperception that innocence and naivete are equivalent, and that unless a model is bored, moody, and provocative, she lacks sophistication, intelligence, or allure. Indeed, this is a fallacy.

 

I observe, analyze, discover, and paint the inner beauty that radiates from exceptionally attractive yet courteous young women in pieces like Promenade, Lady of the Lake, Enchanted, Cadence, and others. They are brave yet modest, self-assured yet caring, and naive yet knowledgeable.
